RACE DAY LIVE · 14:00 BST

Prince Kameo strikes first; the straight sprint is next.

The opener is in the book: Prince Kameo beat Akaraka by one length, with Empire Rising another length and a half back in third. Nine ran; 62 are scheduled across the remaining seven races.

RACE DAY LIVE · UPDATE AUDIT · 14:00 BST

Prince Kameo lands the opener; 14:05 is next.

This final scheduled hourly block is appended above every earlier race-day snapshot.

01 · WHAT CHANGED

The first result is confirmed.

Prince Kameo won the 13:35 Personal Touches Day Of Elegance Nursery under Kevin Stott. Akaraka was second, one length behind, and Empire Rising was third, another length and a half back. Nine ran.

02 · WEATHER & GOING

18°C and overcast; rain risk stays low.

The Met Office shows below-5% rain chance at 14:00, then 10% from 15:00 to 17:00. Westerly wind is near 11mph, gusting around 23mph and easing. Going remains Good to Soft, Good in places, GoingStick 7.6.

03 · RUNNERS & RIDERS

Nine ran; 62 are scheduled to run.

The remaining fields are 9, 13, 6, 9, 7, 9 and 9. Dapper Valley, Knightsail and Wreck It Ryley remain the three published non-runners; no new rider, draw or weight change appeared at this check.

04 · TRAVEL, TIMING & WATCH

The 14:05 straight five-furlong test comes quickly.

No York–Thirsk-specific incident appears in National Rail’s current disruption page. Use the first straight race to see whether a side or group gains an advantage; the bend-course opener alone cannot settle the straight-course draw question.

RACE DAY LIVE · UPDATE AUDIT · 13:00 BST

Final build-up before the first race at 13:35.

This pre-race block is appended above every earlier race-day snapshot.

01 · WHAT CHANGED

No material card change.

Runner total, field sizes, non-runners, rider bookings, draw, weights, going, stalls and official timings all remain as recorded at noon. The live desk now hands priority to paddock and track evidence.

02 · WEATHER & GOING

18°C and overcast before the opener.

Rain chance is below 5% at 13:00–14:00 and 10% from 15:00 to 17:00. Westerly winds near 13mph may gust around 25mph before easing. Going remains Good to Soft, Good in places, GoingStick 7.6.

03 · RUNNERS & RIDERS

Seventy-one remain across eight races.

Field sizes remain 9, 9, 13, 6, 9, 7, 9 and 9. Dapper Valley, Knightsail and Wreck It Ryley remain the three published non-runners; no featured partnership changed.

04 · TRAVEL, TIMING & WATCH

First race 13:35; watch the horses now.

No York–Thirsk-specific rail incident appears in National Rail’s current list. For anyone already on course, the most useful new information is physical: calmness in the paddock, willingness to post and how the 13:35 runners handle the bend on Good-to-Soft ground.

RACE DAY LIVE · UPDATE AUDIT · 12:00 BST

No card change; the rain risk steps down.

This hourly block is appended above every earlier race-day snapshot.

01 · WHAT CHANGED

The weather signal has improved.

The Met Office now shows a below-5% rain chance at 12:00–13:00 and 10% from 14:00 to 17:00, replacing the previous 20% signal at 14:00–15:00. The card and ground report are unchanged.

02 · WEATHER & GOING

17°C now; 18°C through racing.

Overcast conditions are forecast through 15:00 before sunny intervals return from 16:00. WNW winds around 13mph may gust near 26mph at noon, easing as racing progresses. Going remains Good to Soft, Good in places, GoingStick 7.6.

03 · RUNNERS & RIDERS

Seventy-one remain; no new withdrawal.

Field sizes remain 9, 9, 13, 6, 9, 7, 9 and 9. Dapper Valley, Knightsail and Wreck It Ryley remain the three published non-runners; no featured rider, draw or weight change appeared.

04 · TRAVEL, TIMING & WATCH

First race in 95 minutes.

The official 13:35 first-race time is unchanged and no York–Thirsk-specific rail incident appears in the current National Rail list. With the GoingStick holding at 7.6, use the paddock and first race—not the number alone—to judge how readily horses are moving over the surface.

RACE DAY LIVE · UPDATE AUDIT · 11:00 BST

Gates open; the numerical ground reading moves.

This hourly block is appended above the complete 10:00, 09:00, 08:00 and 00:50 snapshots.

01 · WHAT CHANGED

GoingStick 7.0 → 7.6.

Racing Post’s published numerical reading has risen to 7.6. The verbal going remains Good to Soft, Good in places, and the stalls positions remain straight centre, 1m4f stands’ side and the remainder inside.

02 · WEATHER & GOING

17°C and overcast at gates.

The Met Office keeps the race window near 18°C: 10% rain chance at 13:00, 20% at 14:00–15:00, then 10% at 16:00 and below 5% by 17:00. WNW gusts near 26mph ease through the afternoon.

03 · RUNNERS & RIDERS

The card remains at 71.

Gates are open; first race 13:35.

No York–Thirsk-specific rail incident appears in National Rail’s current list. The GoingStick move is a useful clue, not proof the whole course rides uniformly: watch how runners travel on the bend in the opener and through the centre in the 14:05.

RACE DAY LIVE · UPDATE AUDIT · 10:00 BST

No card change; a small weather refinement.

This hourly block is appended above the complete 09:00, 08:00 and 00:50 snapshots.

01 · WHAT CHANGED

Only the timing of the shower signal.

The Met Office now shows a below-5% rain chance at 10:00, 10% at 13:00 and 20% at 14:00–15:00. The card, runners, non-runners, going and official timings are unchanged.

02 · WEATHER & GOING

16°C now; about 18°C through racing.

Sunny intervals at 10:00 are forecast to turn overcast before and around the first race, then brighten from 16:00. A west-north-west wind around 13mph may gust near 26mph before easing. Going remains Good to Soft, Good in places, GoingStick 7.0.

03 · RUNNERS & RIDERS

Seventy-one remain across eight races.

Field sizes remain 9, 9, 13, 6, 9, 7, 9 and 9. Dapper Valley, Knightsail and Wreck It Ryley remain the only published non-runners; no featured booking or draw change appeared.

04 · TRAVEL, TIMING & WATCH

One hour to gates; 13:35 first race.

No York–Thirsk-specific rail incident appears in the current National Rail list. The west-side engineering note remains. With cloud and breeze building into early racing, wait for the first races to reveal how the easier surface and track position are playing.

RACE DAY LIVE · UPDATE AUDIT · 09:00 BST

No material change; the first-race clock keeps moving.

This hourly block is appended above the 08:00 update, which remains intact below.

01 · WHAT CHANGED

The card and runner total are unchanged.

All eight races remain scheduled from 13:35 to 17:35 with 71 current runners. Field sizes remain 9, 9, 13, 6, 9, 7, 9 and 9.

02 · WEATHER & GOING

15°C now; about 18°C through racing.

Sunny intervals at 09:00 are forecast to turn cloudy and overcast around the first race before brightening later. Shower probability remains 10–20% around the early card, with westerly gusts close to 26mph. Going remains Good to Soft, Good in places, GoingStick 7.0.

03 · RUNNERS & RIDERS

The same three withdrawals remain listed.

Dapper Valley (15:50), Knightsail (16:25) and Wreck It Ryley (17:00) remain the published non-runners. The featured rider bookings and draw shown in the form guide are unchanged at this check.

04 · TRAVEL, TIMING & WATCH

Gates 11:00; keep the first sprints as evidence.

No York–Thirsk-specific disruption appears in National Rail’s current list. Dewsbury–Halifax engineering work still affects some westbound approaches. With the wind still brisk, watch the 13:35 bend and 14:05 straight sprint before treating any track-position theory as established.

RACE DAY LIVE · UPDATE AUDIT · 08:00 BST

Three withdrawals, a cooler forecast and no timing change.

This hourly block is appended above the 00:50 opening audit; that earlier snapshot remains intact below.

01 · WHAT CHANGED

The live total is now 71.

Dapper Valley is out of the 15:50, Knightsail is out of the 16:25 Hambleton Cup and Wreck It Ryley remains out of the 17:00. Current field sizes are 9, 9, 13, 6, 9, 7, 9 and 9.

02 · WEATHER & GOING

Good to Soft; 18°C through racing.

Going remains Good to Soft, Good in places, GoingStick 7.0. The Met Office now shows 17°C at gates and about 18°C throughout the card, with overcast spells, later sunny intervals and a westerly gusting near 26mph before easing.

03 · TRAVEL & TIMING

Gates 11:00; first race 13:35.

The official timetable is unchanged. No York–Thirsk-specific alert appeared in National Rail’s current disruption list at this check; engineering work does affect routes through Dewsbury and Halifax, so travellers from that side should allow extra time and check their exact train.

04 · WATCH POINT

Do not over-read the early sunshine.

The forecast turns overcast around noon and the first race before brightening later. On easier ground with a brisk crosswind, use the 13:35 bend and 14:05 straight sprint as live evidence before committing to a strong view.

UPDATE AUDIT · 00:50 BST

What changed in this edition.

This record is additive: earlier editions remain intact, including the missed 4 September slot.

01 · GOING

Good to Soft, Good in places.

The previous split reading has been replaced by Racing Post’s race-day report: GoingStick 7.0, with straight-course stalls in the centre, 1m4f stalls stands’ side and the remaining round-course starts inside.

02 · WEATHER

Dry race window; breeze strongest early.

The Met Office shows 17°C at gates, 18°C around the first race and 19°C through mid-afternoon. Rain risk stays below 5% through racing; a westerly around 13mph eases later.

03 · CARD

Eight active fields still total 73.

Race times and field sizes are unchanged. Wreck It Ryley remains listed as a non-runner in the 17:00; no additional non-runners were shown at this check.

04 · OPERATIONS

Live pages and update schedule aligned.

The home page, form guide and Race-Day Live desk now use the same 00:50 data cut. Oolong Poobong’s featured time was corrected from 15:50 to 15:15. Automated checks remain set hourly from 08:00 to 14:00 UK time.

01

WHAT CHANGED

The ground has eased; the programme has not.

Friday’s rain has moved the official published picture from Thursday’s Good reading to Good to Soft, Good in places. That makes proven form with some ease more relevant, but the eight races, gates at 11:00 and the 13:35 first race all remain as published.

The straight-course stalls are in the centre, the 1m4f start is stands’ side and the remaining starts are inside. Let the 14:05 five-furlong race show whether one part of the straight is riding better before taking a strong view on the later sprints.

02

WEATHER WATCH

A cool, breezy start with brighter spells later.

11:0017°C · westerly13:35About 18°C15:0018°C · overcast17:35About 18°C

The Met Office shows a 10–20% shower chance around early racing, with overcast spells near the first race and sunny intervals returning later. The west to west-north-west wind is around 13mph near arrival, with gusts close to 26mph before easing through the afternoon. A light layer still earns its place.

03

RUNNERS & RIDERS

Three withdrawals leave 71 current runners.

The 08:00 live racecard shows fields of 9, 9, 13, 6, 9, 7, 9 and 9. Dapper Valley is out of the 15:50, Knightsail is out of the 16:25 and Wreck It Ryley remains out of the 17:00 first division.

Key published partnerships on the guide remain in place, including Connor Beasley with Love Tanya, Oolong Poobong and Kosometsuke; Jason Hart with Dontlookanyfurther, Figjam, Misunderstood and Obelix; and Joanna Mason with The Good Biscuit and Spirit Of Acklam.

04

ENTHUSIAST’S NOTE

Let the surface reveal itself.

The change in going is information, not an instruction to force a bet. Watch how the juveniles cope with the ground, how the centre of the straight performs at 14:05 and whether the breeze is helping or hindering the early pace.

“Race day rewards patience: confirm the runner, watch the ground, then trust what the first races show you.”

THIRD EDITION · FILED 15:00 BST

Declarations land: eight races, a 13:35 start and a divided finale.

The 135-name entry stage has resolved into 73 current runners across eight races. Ladies’ Day now begins half an hour earlier than the provisional card, while the original older-horse finale has been divided into two seven-furlong contests.

01

WHAT CHANGED

A new opener changes the rhythm of the afternoon.

The final card runs from 13:35 to 17:35. The Personal Touches Day Of Elegance Nursery opens proceedings, the five-furlong JW4X4 nursery follows at 14:05, and the former 17:35 handicap now appears as Divisions I and II at 17:00 and 17:35.

There are nine current runners in each of the first two races, 13 in the Class 2 novice, six in the fillies’ handicap, ten in the Rudding Park sprint, eight in the Hambleton Cup and nine in each finale division. The Saver Rate deadline has passed; use the official event page for current ticket availability.

02

WEATHER WATCH

Sunny intervals hold through the race window.

11:0017°C · sunny13:35Near 19°C17:35Near 19°CEVENINGRain risk rising

The Met Office has Saturday near 19°C from early afternoon through the last race, with less than a 5% rain chance for most of the card. A westerly breeze around 10–11mph may gust near 22mph. The rain signal builds after racing—roughly 20–40% later in the evening—so the light layer remains useful for the journey home.

03

RUNNERS & RIDERS

The earlier notebook sorts itself into yes and no.

Declared from our earlier shortlist: Love Tanya, Black Velvet Boy, This Moment, Dontlookanyfurther, Callisterra, Oolong Poobong and Misunderstood. Not on the final card: Forest Berry, Withtearsinmyeyes, Yes I’m Mali, Dandana, Almekarem, Tiernan and Son.

Current partnerships include Connor Beasley with Love Tanya, Callisterra, Oolong Poobong and Kosometsuke; Jason Hart with Black Velvet Boy, Dontlookanyfurther, Grasmere Boy, Misunderstood and Obelix; and Joanna Mason with The Good Biscuit and Spirit Of Acklam. Racing Post currently marks Wreck It Ryley as a non-runner in Division I.

04

ENTHUSIAST’S NOTE

The first two races can teach the rest of the card.

The 13:35 almost-mile opener gives the first read of the bend and settling, then the 14:05 five-furlong dash supplies the first clean straight-course clue. Note where the pace sits before the later 6f races. The two finale divisions offer an even closer comparison: watch Division I’s pace shape, then apply it 35 minutes later.

“Declarations bring clarity, not certainty: the going, non-runners, prices and paddock still get the final word.”

SECOND EDITION · FILED 14:00 BST

The card holds steady; the ground question doesn’t.

Three days out, the seven entry lists still total 135 names. The real movement is around them: Saturday’s forecast has sharpened to 19°C with a bright, mainly dry race-day signal, while the published going feeds remain split between Good and Good to Soft.

LATE BULLETIN · 22:31 BST

The race-day forecast brightens; the card stays at 135.

This is an appended update to the 14:00 edition. Nothing below has been silently rewritten.

01 · WEATHER

Very little rain showing during racing.

The latest Met Office view has Saturday at about 19°C by day and 10°C overnight, with sunshine or sunny intervals and a sub-5% rain chance through the race window. Friday’s early rain remains the variable for the turf.

02 · CARD & GOING

Seven races; published ground labels still differ.

The 14:05–17:35 schedule and 135-name entry total remain unchanged. Racing TV and Sporting Life show Good to Soft; Racing Post still displays Good on parts of its card. Treat the going as provisional until the racecourse update.

03 · YARD WATCH

Seven Michael Dods entries are now easy to track.

The yard’s own entry page lists Callisterra and Malulee at 15:15; Commanche Falls and Woven at 16:25; and Call Me Betty, Imperial Guard and Kosometsuke at 17:35. They remain entries—not declared runners.

04 · NOTEBOOK EXTRA

Paddock Fun has found its voice.

The Laughing Paddock now combines the joke book with two gallops, a winner sting and a horse neigh. Visit Paddock Fun →

01

WHAT CHANGED

No field movement—and no false certainty.

The seven current lists and their published field limits are unchanged from Tuesday. Racing Post now displays Good at meeting level, while Racing TV and Sporting Life display Good to Soft. Until the racecourse issues the next official update, the guide shows both readings and treats neither as final.

There is no new venue announcement this morning. The practical deadline is tonight: the official Ladies’ Day page says admission Saver Rate tickets remain available only until midnight on Wednesday 2 September.

02

WEATHER WATCH

Race-day prospects turn brighter and a shade cooler.

ARRIVALMild · bright spells14:05Near 19°C17:35Cloud buildingEVENING12°C low

The Met Office has Saturday at a 19°C maximum and 12°C minimum, sunny before turning cloudier by night. Friday still carries a light-rain signal before brighter intervals, so the ground can retain moisture even if Ladies’ Day itself stays dry. Pack a light layer and recheck Friday’s rain timing.

03

RUNNERS & RIDERS

Bookings appear, but declarations still rule.

The squeeze is unchanged: 24 names chase 20 places at 16:25, 24 chase 17 in the Hambleton Cup and 29 chase 14 in the finale. These are entry-stage lists, not confirmed runners.

Visible provisional pairings now include Jason Hart with Dontlookanyfurther at 15:15 and Figjam at 15:50; Connor Beasley with Love Tanya in the opener, Oolong Poobong at 15:50 and Kosometsuke in the finale; plus Mikey Sheehy with Mostar Dreams and Mark Winn with Dark Cloud Rising at 16:25. Blank rider fields remain common, so every name stays provisional until declaration time.

04

ENTHUSIAST’S NOTE

The Hambleton Cup is attracting the travellers.

Racing Post’s travellers’ check flags Lopeo and Knightsail for David Menuisier at a listed 272-mile journey, with Ralph Beckett’s Nochebuena and Richard Hannon’s Royal Poetry also among the long-distance 17:00 possibles. It adds intrigue to the longest race—but it is an entry-stage travel watch, not proof they will line up.

“Today’s discipline is patience: note the travellers, watch the ground feeds and wait for declarations before turning interest into a view.”

OPENING EDITION · FILED 14:00 BST

The fields take shape—and the going firms.

Four days out, Saturday’s meeting has a proper outline: seven races, deep entry lists and a trio of contests already above their published maximum field sizes. Declarations are not final, but the notebook is officially open.

01

WHAT CHANGED

Good replaces good to soft on the meeting card.

The Racing Post meeting header now indicates Good, while its individual 14:05 detail still shows Good to Soft. That small discrepancy is exactly why this remains a going watch, not a verdict. The main guide now carries “Good*” and will follow the next official update.

Off the track, the official event page confirms the Most Stylish and Best Hat competitions, live music from The Emerald Thieves and a Saver Rate deadline of midnight on Wednesday 2 September.

02

WEATHER WATCH

Dry through racing; rain waits until later.

11:0016°C · hazy14:0019°C · cloud17:0018°C · cloud21:0014°C · rain

Saturday still looks friendly for racegoers: hazy sunshine around arrival, cloud for the card and an afternoon high near 20°C. Rain is currently held back until roughly 9pm. A light layer remains the sensible bag choice.

03

RUNNERS & RIDERS

Three races face a declaration squeeze.

The 16:25 has 24 entries for a maximum 20, the 17:00 has 24 for 17 and the 17:35 finale has 29 for 14. Expect meaningful trimming when declarations arrive.

Forest Berry remains among the 16 listed for the opener after two recent wins. Some provisional jockey names are now visible—Connor Beasley with Love Tanya, Tom Eaves with One Shot Kodi and Jason Hart with Or Another—but many slots are still blank.

Late result: Yes I’m Mali won today’s 15:40 at Ripon on soft ground under Daniel Tudhope. He remains on the current 16:25 entry list; the short turnaround makes his declaration and recovery a live watch.

04

ENTHUSIAST’S NOTE

The first straight sprint is Saturday’s live clue.

The 14:40 over 5f is more than race two: it is our first clean read of the straight course. Watch where the pace gathers and which side finishes strongest, then carry that observation into the later 6f handicap.

“Forest Berry is still the early notebook horse—but the draw, confirmed ground and price must come before conviction.”
